The Senapati district was earlier known as Manipur North District which came into existence w.e.f. 14 November 1969 with its headquarters at Karong. Later the district headquarter was shifted to Senapati on 13 December 1976. The district came to be known as Senapati district wef 15 July 1983. Area: 3,271 Sq. Km. Density of population: 146 people per square kilometer Literacy Rate: 63.60 % - Male: 69.21 %, Female: 57.67 % Male Female Ratio: 1000:937 Latitude: 24.37°N Longitude: 93.29°E to 94.15°E District Boundaries: North South East West Phek District, Nagaland Imphal East & Imphal West District Ukhrul District Tamenglong District District HQ: Senapati.
